IN THE NEWS Fishing has been good lately. There have been alot of big marlin caught this year. One over 900 pounds was caught in the past couple of weeks. There are other fish around too. It was for this reason that we went fishing on a recent Sunday. We went out to see if we could find a spearfish for our 10 year old son to catch. Poor boy never got his chance. We were only 20 minutes out of the harbor when the line starting peeling off the reel. It turned out to be my day instead of my son's. This fish was tough. Even though I had pushed the drag all the way up, it still took line. The fish took line, and I got it back. We played this tug of war for almost 2 hours, before the battle was finally won. This is my biggest fish to date, at 517 pounds! I told my son I was sorry he didn't get a chance to catch his spearfish, and he said "that's okay Mom, it was so worth it!" |
